Beaver News #95 - August 19, 2019

We hope you are enjoying your summer!

No video this time, instead we offer you a rare opportunity to buy a Mare's Leg Holster and/or Prospector Belt at 20% off.

As you know, we usually don't have items in stock, everything is hand-made after you order. But sometimes people make mistakes when they make an order, they measure wrong for their belt for example.  Mistakes can happen so we make them a new item as long as they return the originally ordered one unused.

This is how we ended up having these 5 items in stock, a Mare's Leg Holster and 4 Prospector Belts, and we decided to offer them with a 20% discount:

You can see and order all 5 items here on this page at 20% off. (The 20% off is limited to the items on that page, when an item is gone when you get to the page you would have to order a holster or belt at the regular price).

Western Leather Gun Belt Ranger Star

Beaver News #94 - June 17, 2019

This week Mark is talking about Western Gun Belts. The belt he is showing in the video he made many years back (30-35 years ago!) and this is a very popular rig that gets ordered quite a bit by our customers.

The Ranger Star Rig is a really good gun belt if you are going to be riding and shooting, if you are going to be out on the range carrying a side iron, or if you are doing mounted Cowboy Action.

Riding with a belt that comes off the hip is a lot easier to draw from and shoot than to have a Buscadero Rig. Also, the holsters are form-fitted so the firearm doesn't just come out or bounce around and shift while riding like it is the case with many mass-produced unlined holsters.

The inspiration for the Texas Star Conchos came from one of Mark's favourite actors Chuck Norris in the series Texas Ranger.

But if you don't want star conchos on your rig that is fine too. We can put any kind of concho on the belt and holster, you just let us know what you want.

If you are interested in ordering one for yourself, you can find it in the Online shop here: But first, watch this week's video here or by clicking below.

Catchers Glove Restored Like New

Beaver News #93 - May 20, 2019

Howdy!

This week we show you how we restored a catcher's glove so the Dad (our client) could pass it on to his beloved daughter.

The inside had a lot of wear and tear, even holes, so we had to replace it. This meant taking the glove apart, manufacture a new piece and then lace everything back together.

Sounds easy enough but is quite tricky in reality. Check out this week's video and see the transformation from worn out with holes to looking like brand new.

Custom Leather Electrician Tool Pouches with Shoulder Harness

Beaver News #92 - April 29, 2019

Our customer used a magazine holder to carry his electrician tools while working. But it didn't hold all the tools he wanted and they also fell out sometimes.

So we took the tools that he uses on a day-to-day basis and built him custom form-fitted pouches for each one of them in the order he wanted to have them. He can open and close the pouches with one hand so he is always safe if he is up on scaffolding for example.

The harness is fully adjustable to his body and liking. It sits on his shoulders and can be connected to his belt with D-rings.

Check out this video and let us know what you think. We love manufacturing unique ideas like this. So if you have something in your business or personal life (not just with tools) that you would like to have manufactured, give us a shout.

We are doing a happy dance because we reached 1,000 subscribers on Youtube - Yabba Dabba Doo!! We even got an email from Youtube congratulating us 🙂

Our most watched video is the one about our signature 3D cartridge loops that has over 35,700 views, 41 comments, and 398 likes.

In that video, Mark explains how he builds these loops onto belts, holsters, staging strips, etc in a way that they don't expand and become too loose for your cartridges to the point that they fall out.

Because we got such a big response to that video Mark shows you in this week's video how we actually make these Signature 3D cartridge loops.

It's not step-by-step instructions but it shows you the process of what goes into it. You'll see:
  • the template he uses
  • how he cuts out the leather - make sure you check out the tricks of the trade and pro tips he tells you
  • then he's beveling the edges and makes a stitching groove
  • to be ready to punch the slots and then dye the piece
  • Now it's time for the loop material to get prepared
  • it gets riveted to the base piece and then pulled through the slots to create the cartridge loops
We hope you'll enjoy, check out the video below.

Bottom Plug for Mare’s Leg Holster

First we'd like to thank everyone who stopped by our table at the 2-Day HACS Show and said hello. For those of you who couldn't come, here two photos of our tables:

Now the HACS Show is over and we are back in the shop. In this weeks video, Mark shows you an attachment for your Mare's Leg Holster,

The Bottom Plug

We created this plug because some of our customers have asked for it. The Henry Mare's Leg has a tubular magazine that opens up at the bottom. For some reason or another, that tubular magazine opened up and they lost the tube, the slide unit, and all their ammunition.

This bottom plug prevents this from happening.

We can add the bottom plug to any holster you already have or you can order your new Mare's Leg holster with the bottom plug.

Check out the video by clicking on the image below.

We hope this made you chuckle!

If you live near Vancouver BC Canada come visit us at our tables at this show, we'd love to meet you, talk with you and show you our products, their quality and the workmanship that goes into them.

How to use the hammer tab on your holster

Beaver News #88 - February 25, 2019

On this week's video, Mark is talking about our hammer tabs. We learned that a few of our clients were a little confused on how to use it when they receive their (Mare's Leg) holster.

They contact us and ask, "what is the small leather trace that is by the hammer for?"

Hammer Tab on our Mare's Leg Holsters. www.BeaverMountainworks.com

Well, this is a hammer tab, and it keeps your firearm in the holster, from moving around a whole lot or from falling out if you trip.

There are two holes in the back and two holes in the front, this gives you the option to have thehammber tab to backside or to the front.

If you use the holster with the saddle attachment, we suggest you put the hammer tab to the inside (backside), because it will hold the firearm nice and snug when you are riding.

Where on the other hand, when you are walking through the bush it is a lot nicer to have the hammer tab to the outside.

The hammer tab is not just on our Mare's Leg holsters but on any holster that we manufacture, like the revolver holsters, the holsters on the Buscadero rigs etc, it always keeps the firearm nice and snug.

But we also make different styles of hammer tabs, check out this week's video. As always: You dream it - we make it!

Howdy

Have you ever wondered how long it takes to convert our Mare's Leg Shoulder Holster into a Hanging Saddle Holster?

What if you are not only wanting to carry your Mare's Leg on a shoulder rig in the bush but also while you are riding your horse?

For this exact situation, you can buy the saddle attachment from us. This attachment lets you connect your Mare's Leg holster to the horn of your Western Saddle.

In this video, Mark shows you how quick you can transform the holster from fitting your shoulder harness to hanging off your saddle.

  • Step 1: you detach your holster from the harness by removing the Chicago screws
  • Step 2: you attach your holster to the saddle attachment either with Chicago screws or like Mark shows you in the video, with lace.

In addition, you might also be interested in the practical quick tip that Mark offers one minute and forty seconds into the video on how to loosen or tighten Chicago screws the easy way.

First off, Happy New Year and all the best for 2019!

We here at Beaver Mountain Works were closed over the holidays but that doesn't mean we were not busy. We finished off some major projects, one of them being this custom hand made long-range shooting bag.

The customer came to us with a bag that he owned. It held up for many years but now it desperately needed some repairs. At the same time, our customer was looking to get a new bag made, this time one that was custom to his wants and needs.

In this week's video, you see both, the original bag that we repaired as well as the new bag, custom hand-made by us.

By the way, if you haven't subscribed to our Youtube channel yet, we'd love it if you would do so. We would like to get to the magic number of 1,000 subscribers!
We dream it - you can help us make it 🙂
