How to Measure for and Install Your Butt Sleeve (butt wrap)

Beaver News #64 – December 4, 2017

You can now order a butt sleeve (butt wrap) from us, even if you are not able to bring your firearm to the shop.

When you order your butt sleeve you’ll provide us with three measurements. This is all we need to produce your butt sleeve and we will ship it to you. Once you receive the butt sleeve you can install it on your favorite firearm yourself.

As Mark says: if you can hunt and shoot a gun, I’m sure you can do it.

We created two videos, the first video explains how you get the three measurements that you need to send along with your order. To watch the video, click on the image below:

The second video explains how you install the butt sleeve once you receive it from us:

A Rig Inspired by a Movie

Video

Beaver News #61 – October 16, 2017

As you know, our Motto is: You dream it – We make it! so when a client came to us, asking for a rig similar like one he saw in a movie – well we accepted the Challenge ūüôā¬†

The movie he was talking about is Two Mules for Sister Sara and he had his eye on the rig that Hogan, aka Clint Eastwood, is wearing.

It’s a gun belt with a holster and the first thing you’ll notice is that part of it is rough-side out – meaning the rough side of the leather is out and not the smooth side.¬†

The belt is lined and stitched with a decorative stitch, we added our signature 3D cartridge loops to it and of course, the buckle can be easily exchanged with our chicago screw system.

The holster is lined as well, molded and fitted to the gun, and the keeper is a buckle-keeper just like the one on the show.

If you have an idea of something you want to have manufactured, or you’ve seen a photograph or movie of something that you are interested in, come talk to us.¬†

Custom Gun Belt & Holster on drop-loop

Video

Beaver News #60 – September 25, 2017

Today we are talking again about a custom item: this is a gun belt with a holster that we just manufactured for one of our customers.

He wanted a 1-3/4″ belt and he wanted to have a drop-loop on it to put on the holster for his revolver. As a prospector, he goes into the woods a lot and he has a license to carry. He wanted something that is versatile and that fits his .357 magnum

Also, because he carries different equipment on his belt he found that if the belt buckle is on the left side, where it normally is on a man’s belt, it has gotten in the way of his equipment. So we manufactured the belt to his desire and put the buckle on the right side. Watch the video to see the other features on this custom rig.

Mark carving the Grizz – part 2

    Video

    Beaver News #51 – April 24, 2017

This is part 2 of our behind-the-scenes video that gives you a glimpse into how Mark carves the Grizzly that is featured on our Mare’s Leg Rig “Grizz“.

If you missed part 1, watch it here. You’ll get to see how Mark does all the basics, the carving, the pressing and the relief and bringing the animal out by accenting the edges, like a 3D effect.

Now in part 2 you’ll see him work on the hair. It’s a long process, as Mark mentiones, Grizzlies are quite hairy fellas :-). The longer he works on it the more you’ll see the Grizzly really coming to life, at one point it even seems to attack you through the screen….

The next step is dying and don’t you startle at first when you see him applying the dye all over this beautiful carving? But then, all cleaned up and waxed, you’ll see how amazing it looks and at the end of the video you’ll see the hole rig all put together.

Mark carving the Grizz – part 1

    Video

    Beaver News #50 – April 10, 2017

This is a behind-the-scenes video that gives you a glimpse into how Mark carves the Grizzly that is featured on our Mare’s Leg Rig “Grizz“. It’s a two part series and this is part 1.

We jump in right after Mark has traced the outlines onto the leather and used the swivel knife to cut the outline out. Now he shows you how he does the carving, the pressing and the relief, this is still all the basics, as you will see.

Then he is bringing the carving out by accenting the edges, like a 3D effect. For that he uses a stamping tool, and the object is to using pressure, pushing down and smoothing it out at the same time, but the leather has to have just the right dampness for that.

When he makes the hair, and highlights the hair, the carving is going to stand out like the animal is charging you with the hair all up in hackles.

Every one of our carvings, even though there are similarities, is unique, just like every animal or every person is unique. There is not two that are identical.

    Tactical Knife customized

    Video

    Beaver News #49 – March 27, 2017

Today we are talking about taking tactical gear, or your¬†personal hunting gear or fishing gear, and modifying what you’ve already purchased.¬†

There is a lot of good high-quality gear out there but it still may not suit your needs 100%. So one of our specialties is that we make modifications and upgrades to your gear, just like our motto says:

You dream it  Рwe make it!

In the video below we show you an example:
One of our clients bought a Blackhawk Knife that he wants to use in a tactical way. We went ahead and wrapped the handle with rawhide. We double wrapped it meaning, first we wrapped it one way and then we wrapped it a second time crisscrossed. We also died the raw hide a nice rich brown.

This is just one example of how we can customize or upgrade your existing gear. Come talk with us about your ideas, but first, click on the image below and watch the short video:
